As someone wise once said, “I always wondered why somebody doesn’t do something about that. Then I realized I was somebody.” The interaction with the Chavadi orphanage kids was the moment when I stopped being ‘somebody’. It was a touching experience to be a part of this itsohkay initiative. An event where we actually reach out to the children in reach, indulged with them in activities and even decorated their place. It was a time well spent and hopefully we brought some happiness in lives of these children. I wish Itsohkay many more such successful events.
You are just one click away from inspiring hundreds of people to follow the path of social service. We hope you had a wonderful experience in doing good for others, sharing that can multiply the smiles that you spread.
"jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the way..." That was what small young Sparks were singing joyfully with a shining smile...
It was the best Christmas of my life to celebrate it with pure innocent souls at subhakshika NGO.
Thank you so much for inviting me over there.π
Rang barse event was an amazing experience of my life celebration festival of colors with new hopes, young children, who are underprivileged, a small attempt to fill their life with colors together.
Thank you "its ohkay" and subhakshika NGO for organizing such events to help the poorer section of our society.
The most famous festival of colours-Holi, always give us immense happiness but celebrating this festival with kids in Rang barse event gave a lifelong happiness to me ...The joy of spending time with these lovely children can't be explained , they were full of enthusiasm and extremely talented , it was great to perform dance for them , their smiling faces made my day ♥♥♥. I just couldn't thank enough for being part of this event , waiting for more events.....π
I would like to thank ItsOhkay for giving this amazing opportunity to celebrate Christmas in the best possible way with these little ones. It was one of those experiences where you feel happy not because of your own self but because of someone else's smile. These kids are really special. I wish team ItsOhkay all the best for spreading more happiness amongst peopleπ
I visited the Chavadi Orphanange, Hyderabad as part of itsohkay’s event. Kanika had planned for a few games and fun time activities with the kids. The place was well maintained and from outside, you wouldn’t realise that it’s an orphanage. The caretaker was an extremely polite person and informed us about the number of kids and the demographic spread (they were in the age group of 7-18). When we finally met the kids, I was pleasantly surprised with how well behaved the kids were. They were fun-loving but polite, naughty but disciplined. They were just as kids should be! We had a drawing event for kids to draw whatever they wanted to. And were they good! One of them drew an awesome sketch of Lord Shiva. The attention to detail, the free flowing hand, it was an amazing experience to watch him sketch it. Another kid made something similar to a charcoal painting. For someone like me, who can’t even draw a circle properly, it felt amazing seeing these kids’ fantastic creations. This event helped us to break the ice and for me to get comfortable with the kids and vice versa. Later, I got a chance to speak to them personally, and got to know how the structure was at Chavadi. The older kids (about 17-18 years of age) would help the younger ones. They would help them with getting ready for school, their home work, with their life, how to become a good person. They took on the role of elder brother(s) for these kids. This also made them all a closed knit unit which was so clearly visible during my visit. Apart from taking care of their “younger brothers”, these 3 older ones were either in Junior college or doing their undergraduate. What they all contained was a drive. Being driven can sometimes be bad where you lose sense of good and wrong, but not here. These kids were driven, not to succeed come what may, but to be good peoples. At an age where they still couldn’t vote, they were mature enough to know what’s the right way of life. Usually, in a setup like this, you would encounter some rotten apples - bullies or kids on wrong path or depressed - who would spoil the entire cart. But not at Chavadi. All of them are good apples.
The overall experience was cherishing. Seeing the girls dancing and smiling while playing with just handful of colors makes you realise how we being in a much better place are still ungrateful. Thank you It's Ohkay for such an event. I would like to be a part of more such events that brings joy to the faces of the less fortunate kids.
Dnt have more photos to share...but would want to put across that this was one of the best experiences i have ever had. That warmth... those smiles.. those hugs.. those dance moves.. absolutely loved every bit of being Santa for the guys..
Wow!
First and foremost....
Thankyou very much for offering me the opportunity to be volunteer.
I have been part of various organisations beforeb but he way you and your team is managing ..just hats off!
For me.. meeting new kids along with your team was a crazy experience (crazy in a good wayππ)
Would surely catch up with you guys whenever possible.
Very well organized, fun activities and could see that the kids were enjoying the activities. Organizer had the magic of easily mingling with the children. Since the kids spoke English, Hindi and Telugu, it helped us a lot to easily mingle without any language constraints. The kids were very sweet, humble and giving: I saw a kid who said I already got my chocolate when offered another one. How sweet is that from a 7 or 8 old child?
